Problems With Global Warming
|
Global warming is a phenomenon that means a rise in earth's temperature because of greenhouse gases. When the sunlight enters earth's atmosphere, it is trapped by greenhouse gases, which do not allow the heat to leave afterwards. The heat trapped by these gases increases the temperature. The rising problems with global warming include human, plant and animal diseases, melting of glaciers and pollution. The changes in earth's atmosphere and animal and plant habitat are so devastating that it may lead to death of many inhabitants.
One of the major problems with global warming is habitat displacement, which greatly affects the ecosystem. It is evident in some reports that polar bears got stranded on islands of ice as the ice is melting in to water because of rise in temperature. Some of these poor polar bears drowned and died. Experts also say that timing of some natural cyclical events is also changed because of global warming such as migration time of birds, hibernation or reproductive routine. Another problem is coastal flooding or rise in sea level. In result of rise in sea level due to global warming, many low land islands are covered by water. Human, animal and plant population are affected by this problem that also causes extinction of species. Excess of water causes many of plants to die that ultimately lead to the shortage of food for animals on the island. If the animals don't have ability to adapt to the diverse changes in the climate, they cannot survive. If both the plants and animals start to die, human beings lose both two sources of food that may force them to leave the area. The food chain breaks in this way, as one event leads to the other. Global warming also causes water to become hot that kills algae present in oceans. Algae are the major source of food for fishes, crabs and other marine life.
Another problem among various problems with global warming is deforestation. Earth becomes very hot because of global warming and the dry leaves of plants and trees in the forests can catch fire. The huge fire set in this way can wipe out the forests. Severe droughts, heat waves and intense storms are some of the consequences of global warming. Africa has to suffer worst because of it. Scarcity of water is already a problem in Africa, which could become more severe in future even water shortage could lead to wars and conflicts. Rise in temperature leads to frequent stronger hurricanes that are also economically dangerous. Damage is in millions of dollars and treatment of diseases also increases the cost. |
